Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.”St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.”What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.”This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights.  The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.”Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family.  Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility.  When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

Thank Allah there are still a few sane elected officials in responsible positions.
Still, if anyone ever wanted a preview of what the “Fairness Doctrine” would look like under an Obama/Pelosi/Reid regime, here it is.”

Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) — The Federal Reserve will pump an
additional $630 billion into the global financial system,
flooding banks with cash to alleviate the worst banking crisis
since the Great Depression.

The Fed increased its existing currency swaps with foreign
central banks by $330 billion to $620 billion to make more
dollars available worldwide. The Term Auction Facility, the Fed’s
emergency loan program, will expand by $300 billion to $450
billion. The European Central Bank, the Bank of England and the
Bank of Japan are among the participating authorities.

The Fed’s expansion of liquidity, the biggest since credit
markets seized up last year, came hours before the U.S. House of
Representatives rejected a $700 billion bailout for the financial
industry. The crisis is reverberating through the global economy,
causing stocks to plunge and forcing European governments to
rescue four banks over the past two days alone.

`Today’s blast of term liquidity will settle the funding
markets down, and allow trust to slowly be restored between
borrowers and lenders,” said Chris Rupkey, chief financial
economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. in New York. On
the other hand, “the Fed’s balance sheet is about to explode.”

From the page: “House defeats $700B financial industry bailout, brushes off warnings of grave economic danger

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Monday defeated a $700 billion emergency rescue for the nation’s financial system, ignoring urgent warnings from President Bush and congressional leaders of both parties that the economy could nosedive into recession without it. Stocks plummeted on Wall Street even before the 228-205 vote to reject the bill was announced on the House floor.

With their dire warnings of impending economic doom and their sweeping request for unprecedented sums of money and authority to bail out cash-starved financial firms, Bush and his economic chiefs have focused the attention of world markets on Congress, Ryan added.

“We’re in this moment, and if we fail to do the right thing, Heaven help us,” he said.

The legislation the administration promoted would have allowed the government to buy bad mortgages and other rotten assets held by troubled banks and financial institutions. Getting those debts off their books should bolster those companies’ balance sheets, making them more inclined to lend and easing one of the biggest choke points in the credit crisis. If the plan worked, the thinking went, it would help lift a major weight off the national economy that is already sputtering.”
——————————————–I’m surprised they did not yet sellout. But time is on their side and the fear factor is being ratcheted up big time.

Lets hope we can stave off the barbarians for good. We’ll take this small victory, but I’m sure the globalists won’t give up so easily. May God help us.
