A somewhat old, but still relevant article.
From the page: “Nobel Prize recipient Joseph Stiglitz and Harvard budget guru Linda J. Bilmes are revising their original $3 trillion war cost estimate. As Bilmes reports, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are at least 25 percent costlier than previous projections.”

Rep. Ron Paul’s long-held advocacy of smaller government and less taxes has made him a tea party hero.

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, whose outspoken libertarian views and folksy style made him a cult hero during two previous presidential campaigns, will announce on Tuesday that he’s going to try a third time.

Sources close to Paul, who is in his 12th term in the House, said he will unveil an exploratory presidential committee, a key step in gearing up for a White House race. He will also unveil the campaign’s leadership team in Iowa, where the first votes of the presidential election will be cast in caucuses next year.

I only now found out and am puzzled why the great stumbler formerly known as Nooner, lately going by the name bestlastchance, is deleting his account. I received an old old share from him and when I tried to see his account it says he’s scheduled for deletion. He was great at finding alternative news/conspiracy sites and the like. His was not the type of account for everyone, but we free-thinkers loved his stuff. The “People Who Like This” section of the reviews page for his SU account is ten out of ten people who I’m subscribed to. Anyone have a web contact address? Atleast with Anitab’s tip I can try and send him a last-minute pm.

Lately several stumblers and people in other fora have closed accounts. Some SU members who remain have none-the-less slowed or stopped their alternative news stumbling.Whats up with that? nows the time to ratchet it up, not slow down!

Hope all’s well Nooner, good luck and may God bless & protect you & your loved ones.

Watch the Watchmen – Reason Magazine

http://reason.com/archives/2011/04/21/watch-the-watchmen

From the page: ” I believe in the right to privacy.

Yet I can think of someone who deserves very little privacy-a policeman making an arrest. Unfortunately, in some states it’s a crime to make a video of a policeman doing just that. People recording police have been threatened, detained, or arrested. Some were jailed overnight.

That’s wrong. Police work for the public, they’re paid with tax money, and most importantly, they have tremendous power. They’ve got the legal right to pull guns, detain us, lock us up and, in some cases, shoot us. The potential for abuse is great. So it’s a good thing that modern video cameras are now so commonplace. Any abuse of police power in a public place is likely to be recorded. Why should that be a crime in some states? “

Why They Died in Vain by Laurence M. Vance

http://www.lewrockwell.com/vance/vance239.html

From the page: ” U.S. soldiers killed while fighting in Iraq died in vain. They didn’t die defending anyone’s freedoms. They didn’t die protecting the United States. They didn’t die fighting “over there” so we wouldn’t have to fight “over here.” They didn’t die to keep American safe from terrorists. They didn’t die to avenge 9/11.

They may have been sincere, patriotic, and altruistic. They may have fought bravely, heroically, and passionately. They may have died sacrificially, willingly, and eagerly. But they died for the imperial presidency (Bush or Obama), the U.S. empire, the U.S. military, the U.S. military-industrial complex, the national-security state, and a belligerent, reckless, and meddling U.S. foreign policy.

It is not honorable for a U.S. soldier to die fighting some unnecessary foreign war. It is in fact a shameful thing. All Americans ought to be ashamed of their government, its foreign policy, and the way it uses its military.

Why is it that those who opposed this monstrous war from the beginning are not considered the true patriots? Is it anti-American to think that it wasn’t worth one drop of blood from one American soldier to give Iraq a “chance for freedom”? How much more pro-American could one get? Real patriots don’t want to see any more U.S. soldiers die in vain. “

A fellow conservative who, like many of us, has a heart that yearns for freedom and a return to true conservatism. Unfortunately, like too many conservatives, his heart has been fooled into getting enamored by the new corporate based Tea Party with Sarah Palin as its siren – beckoning us to crash our ships on her rocky shores…

Keep searching brother, you may still break out of the establishment’s Left vs Right, Democrat vs Republican scam.
