Ford’s domestic auto sales may drop 10 percent lower than the company’s forecast as a result of the economy, Bloomberg News reported.
Ford now forecasts that it will sell 12.2 million U.S. light-vehicles this year; General Motors Corp. forecasts 10 million to 11 million, according to Bloomberg News.
ā€oeThe market will not reach 12.2 million units this year, no way, no how,ā€¯ John Wolkonowicz, an IHS Global Insight analyst told Bloomberg News. The consulting firm believes that Ford’s 2009 sales will be between 10 million and 10.5 million, according to Bloomberg News.
And that’s not good news for Ford, as sales at those lowered levels would likely mean the struggling automaker would need as much as $13 billion in loans, Ford told Congress last month (as reported by Bloomberg News).”
